Say it Aloud!

#HTC Volunteers Rock!

In honor of National Volunteer week and Global Volunteer Month, we cannot say enough about our amazing HTC volunteers and their commitment to healing.

APRIL 21-27, 2024—National Volunteer Week is dedicated to shining a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve. For the past 50 years, it has been an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, build stronger communities, and transform the world. It takes place every April during Global Volunteer Month.

Each year, throughout the nation, we shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve, recognizing and thanking volunteers who lend their time, talent, and voice to make a difference in their communities.

2024 is off to an Impressive Beginning!

So far, HTC Greater Philadelphia has been to Ethiopia, HTC Northeast has been to Ukraine, HTC Illinois/Indiana has been to Honduras, HTC New Jersey and HTC Southern California have just returned from Peru, and HTC Southern California is in Nepal. This work encompasses ENT, Cleft Lip Palate Surgeries and Training, Plastic Surgery, Foot and Ankle Surgery, and so much more.

Our IMAP Program is in Full Swing!

HTC launched its IMAP (International Medical Assistance Program) in 2014 to utilize collaborative contacts to help find medical care for an international child in a country closer to where he or she lives.  Through IMAP, certified facilities and staff have been identified and the cost of treatment is much lower.   Thanks to the dynamic duo of HTC Wisconsin and Paty's Project, four children from Uganda with critical heart conditions were recently flown (with their families) to India for heart surgery. This significantly reduces the overall costs and allows for a shorter time in India and for families to be with their child.

Update: April 20, 2024: Great news! All four children’s surgeries were successful. Healing the Children Wisconsin teamed up with Kayla from Paty’s Project to provide life-saving heart surgeries in India for Hanifa, Esther, Godfrey, and Fortunate. After two weeks in India, they are now back in Uganda, recovering under the close supervision of their family physician, Dr. Isabirye Henry Prosper.
