At Healing the Children, we celebrate "luv" in so many ways. At the core of this is our global outreach to support underserved children worldwide. Since our founding in 1979, HTC medical and professional volunteers and staff have provided 324,853 children from more than 100 countries with the gift of health. In celebration of Valentine's Day, we are sharing a few special stories of children we have assisted over the years.
JONAS

Jonas from the Dominican Republic came to the Rocky Mountain Chapter in 2015. His esophagus was completely closed off because of a household accident when he accidentally drank Drano as a 1-year-old.
He was able to receive surgery at age 4 1/2 to reconstruct his scarred esophagus, which allowed him to eat and drink like a normal child.
Jonas is now 10 years old and thriving! This photo was taken when he drank for the first time. He was given lots of options of drinks and sauces to try. He favored Apple juice.
DAISY

This is Daisis, from a poor family in Nicaragua. She came to the US to the HTC Illinois/Indiana Chapter, where they called her “Daisy.” After plastic surgery in Illinois removed the upper lip tumor she was born with, Daisy has become just as pretty as the flower she was named after! Though most Healing the Children cases are far less dramatic, helping to effect any vital, medical improvement in a needy child is more than dramatic: It is life-changing.
Martin
Martin, from Uganda, is a 3-year-old boy with a ventricular septum defect. He was assisted in India through Paty’s Project in partnership with HTC Wisconsin and our IMAP (International Medical Assistance Program). Look at how happy and healthy he looks in the right photo after surgery. He returned to Uganda ready to play with all the children in his community.
Amazing HTC Volunteers!
Our work is not possible without the heart, caring, talent, time, and commitment of our volunteers. Thank you all, and our 324,853 children thank you too!
