We Love Our Mom's!

May is the month when we celebrate Mother's Day and at HTC we celebrate so many amazing women who are "mom's." As a noun, mother means a woman in relationship to her child or children and as a verb mother means bringing up (a child) with care and affection.

Mothers of Children We Heal Abroad: Healing the Children has provided the gift of healing for thousands of children around the world, who have come into our care through the love a trust of a mother. These families often live in remote locations and reaching our medical teams requires a leap of faith and hope as they travel many miles to seek medical care. We sincerely thank our remarkable medical team volunteers who have provided the gift of healing for more than 205,000 children from 100 countries around the world.

Mothers of Children Who Come to the US: Children with very complex medical problems come to the US for specialized medical care. They are usually placed with a US host family who cares for the child for an average of 9 months to a year while the child undergoes medical procedures. Over the years we have assisted more than 7,500 children.

Mothers of Children in the US: Our domestic programs helps families with basic health care, medical equipment, and other health care opportunities here in the US. It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child. Through this program we have helped nearly 20,000 children access important medical resources to improve their health.

HTC Volunteers: Many of our volunteers are mothers of their own children and of the children they help to heal. That care and affection is evident in so many aspects of our work and is life changing. Over the past few years, more than 1,000 people have volunteered annually with our HTC programs.

HTC Chapter Executives, Staff, and Board Members: These dedicated people are the mom's (and dad's) of our organization. Every step we take is in service to helping children access the medical care they need and deserve. Our leaders give more than we can ever repay and this is work that is simply from our heart to yours.

This year will be different for HTC and the programs we have all come to love. We know that things will continue to change. But we stand firm in our commitment, that if we can heal children, we will heal children. We know that we have the heart and tenacity to listen, learn, and look ahead to evolve with these challenging times.

On Sunday, May 10th and throughout the year, we celebrate the many mom's who make the world a better place. We thank you all for your care and compassion, your heart for healing, and your faith that we can make the world better for our children. Together, we are changing the world for children everywhere.

Sincerely yours,

Ann Anderst, President
